Borden, sessiz filmlerde ve sesli filmlerin ilk örneklerinde oynadı. Columbia ve Radio Pictures şirketlerinin filmlerinde güzel ve sofistike kadın tipi rollerinde oynadı. Hollywood'un en güzel oyuncularından biri olarak ünlenmesiyle John Ford, Howard Hawks ve Leo McCarey ile çalıştı.
